Don't Miss Out on Tax Season!
Homestead exemptions lower your taxes by reducing the taxable value of your primary residence. The property only qualifies for the exemption if the tax payer has owned and been using the home as his or her primary residence on or before January 1, 2021.
Your local Appraisal District will send you a form near the end of January, you will have until April 30, 2022 to file for this exemption. When you apply for an exemption you must have a TX Driver’s License or a Texas ID card and the address on it must match the address of the property on your application. Some counties make their exemption forms available on their website. Use the list below to find your county and corresponding website. For additional information, call your county appraisal district.
There are several types of exemptions you may receive when you own a home:
- School and County Taxes
- Disabled Individual Exemption
- Agricultural Land Exemption
- Disabled Veteran Exemption
- Over 65 Exemption
